Multi Grain Brown Rice

How to make Multi Grain Brown Rice

Today I am going to show you how to make Multi Grain Brown Rice.

I am originally from Japan so rice to me is something that I can't live without! Especially multi grain brown rice. It has the beautiful nutty flavor from grains and totally satisfies my stomach. Packed with nutrients as well.

I mixed 4 different kinds of rice, 3 grains and moong beans, however feel free to use any grains, beans or peas that are available to you.

If you are new to whole grains, brown rice or not a big fan of how brown rice tastes, I recommend cooking with vegetable broth.

COOKING WITHOUT A PRESSURE COOKER

There are two ways of cooking rice on a stove top.

Try to use a pot with a heavy bottom to prevent scorching.

BOIL AND DRAIN METHOD - 1:4 RATIO

You can cook rice just like when you cook pasta and noodles.

  1. Add rice and water about 1:4 ratio respectively

  2. Bring water to boil, lower heat and cook for 15 - 20 minutes until rice becomes soft

  3. Remove from heat. Drain water. Cover with lid and let rest for 10 minutes

COOK UNTIL ABSORBED METHOD - 1:1.5 RATIO

  1. Add rice and water about 1:1.5 ratio respectively

  2. Bring water to boil, lower heat and cook with LID ON for 15 - 20 minutes until rice becomes soft

  3. Remove from heat. Leave the lid on and let rest for 10 minutes
